Collection 285. The Papers of Torrey M. Johnson Sr. This exhibit is based almost entirely on films, audio recordings, letters, minutes, programs, photographs, clippings, scrapbooks, and from other documents from Johnson’s files. He was the director of the Chicagoland Youth for Christ in 1945 and the principal architect of the rally, although of course many, many people were involved in planning, organizing and publicizing the event.
Collection 20. Papers of Herbert J. Taylor. Taylor was a Chicago Businessman who supported many Evangelical youth ministries and was on the board of the national YFC organization from the beginning. His collection includes a few documents from the early days of YFC that exist nowhere else.
Collection 40. Interview of Andrew Wyzenbeek. Wyzenbeek was another Chicago businessman who helped support YFC financially in its beginnings. The oral history interview with him conducted in 1978 touches on those early days.
Collection 50. Interviews with Merrill Dunlop. Dunlop had a long career as composer and musician of Christian music. He was active in YFC in the 1940s and 50s, both in the United States and overseas. Excerpts from his oral history interview include his memories of the early Chicago rallies. |
